Dornier Aerodyne E1
Dornier Aerodyne - c/n E1 - Deutsches Museum - Munich, Germany - February 2004
The Aerodyne was an experimental UAV platform employing deflected lift-fan efflux to attain VTOL capabilities - more or less a flying engine.
Designed by the famous A.M. Lippisch, it was built by Dornier under contract of the German Ministry of Defense (BMVg).
Flight testing was conducted successfully in the second half of 1972, but as the Aerodyne had little if any practical value the project ended right there.
